| Syringe Exchange Bill has passed! |
|
Yesterday,
SB 189 passed second reading in the House with a voice vote. Just
moments ago the House of Representatives voted on SB 189. The total
vote was 57 yes, 6 no, and 2 excused! COLORistas this is amazing! It means that local health departments in Colorado can now take dirty syringes in exchange for clean
ones, cutting down on the spread of blood-borne diseases
like HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C among drug users.
A total of 6 representatives voted NO: They were: Murray, C. Gardner, Tipton, McNulty, Baumgardner, and Lambert.
The 2 excused were: Pace and Sonnenberg.
The next step is sending the bill to Governor Ritter for his signature. We will keep you posted on the bill signing date!
