Governor Jared Polis just signed two major reproductive rights bills into law!! 🎉🌞 SB 25-183 expands access to abortion by removing the ban on public insurance coverage and implements Amendment 79 — a constitutional protection for abortion rights that passed with strong statewide support!🛡️ SB 25-129 strengthens legal protections for patients and providers of reproductive health care, building on the shield law passed last year.Colorado continues to lead the way in protecting our right to make decisions about our own bodies and futures. That's a wrap on the Latinas Increasing Political Strength program for 2025! 👄💄Every year we welcome a cohort of young Latinas with the goal of mentoring the next generation of Latina leaders to promote the advancement of the Latine community and advocate for #ReproductiveJustice issues. ✊🏽This year we worked with 9 incredible Latinas who showed up and out for our community! 🌞 From participating in community protests advocating for immigrant rights to meeting with Colorado legislators in Washington DC to advocate for their community back home, these young leaders demonstrated the power and impact of LIPS. Yesterday, COLOR spoke at a press conference for SB25-130 emphasizing the importance of people in Colorado having access to the emergency care they need, including pregnant people who need an abortion or miscarriage care. As federal protections continue to be attacked, it is imperative that Colorado ensures that patients are not denied life-saving emergency care.
