What is this special election?
On August 5, 2026, Denver City Council declared a vacancy in City Council At-Large, Seat B. Denver Elections will hold a Special Election to fill that seat in conjunction with the General Election on November 3, 2026.
In 2025, voters adopted a charter amendment that designated Denver’s two at-large City Council offices as Councilmember at-large seat A and Councilmember at-large seat B.
What does a Councilmember at-large do?
An At-Large City Council member represents the entire city or municipality as a whole, rather than a single geographic district.
They speak for residents citywide, vote on local laws and policies, help shape and approve the annual budget, review mayoral appointments as a check on the executive, and serve on committees covering areas like housing, transportation, and public safety.
