Our Commitment to Reproductive Justice

Founded over 27 years ago, we are powered by a bold team of movement builders, storytellers, policy experts, and organizers who reflect the communities we serve. Our work is grounded in intersectionality, cultural fluency, and the belief that liberation must be collective and bold. We mobilize Latine voters, protect our rights through legislative advocacy, train young leaders, and provide the policy education and tools our community needs to thrive.

Power Building in Community

At COLOR, we know that our culture and contributions are essential to Colorado’s present and future. That’s why we fight every day to ensure Latine communities can thrive with dignity. The impact of our work reminds us that our voices matter, our leadership is powerful, and our stories shape the path toward justice and equity.

Reproductive justice is at the core of our work and shows up in how we organize and hold the people and systems that harm our communities accountable. Each year, COLOR fights legislatively to ensure our community’s voice is heard at the Capitol, while also providing transparency and education about the legislative process to our community. For Latine families, this transparency is essential. Too often, we face systemic barriers to healthcare, housing, and safety. Our educational campaigns enable our community to see the truth, understand power dynamics, and demand courageous leadership.

Our vision is a future where the Latine community can live safe, healthy, and self-determined lives without barriers. That means guaranteed access to healthcare, affordable housing, and culturally and linguistically relevant resources. It means building communities free of discrimination, where our environment is healthy, where families can thrive, and where everyone (women, queer, and trans people included) can decide if, when, and how to parent. Ultimately, our vision is a Colorado where reproductive justice is not a privilege, but a right for all.

Measuring Our Impact

We’re proud of our work and our commitment to a future where Latines can lead safe, healthy, self-determined lives. Through our 27 years of organizing in the abortion access and reproductive justice space, COLOR helped to advance the advocacy infrastructure, shifted the culture and narrative, and developed the community leaders that have pushed our state to reach this energizing and affirming moment.

As a critical partner in the Colorado ecosystem and the only multi-entity Latina Reproductive Justice organization in Colorado, we have boldly led the charge to protect Coloradans’ reproductive rights and secure them for future generations. Our intersectional framing helps people connect the dots between bodily autonomy, democracy, racial justice, equity, and the other freedoms that can only be achieved when we have control over our reproductive, sexual, and gendered lives.
