Latinas Increasing Political Strength (LIPS)
Latinas Increasing Political Strength (LIPS) is a leadership development program for Latinas, by Latinas. Our goal is to empower young people into taking action on issues they care about. The program is open to young persons 16-21 years old who want to build their leadership skills and make a difference in their communities.
Through the LIPS program, participants will develop key skills in public speaking, lobbying, networking, and mentorship while examining the ways in which culture and politics influence individual and collective experiences. The program provides a comprehensive understanding of reproductive justice and its impact on personal freedoms, opportunities, and community well-being, while fostering growth in areas such as anti-oppression and movement leadership.
At the conclusion of the LIPS program, participants will have the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C., where they will put their skills into practice by lobbying federal legislators and advocating for issues that affect their communities. Participants who successfully complete the program and fulfill all participation requirements will graduate with their cohort and receive a $500 stipend in recognition of their commitment and achievement.
The LIPS cohort meets in person at our Downtown Denver office every other Saturday from January 17 through April 25, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The program includes a total of eight sessions, along with additional events and engagement opportunities throughout the term.
LIPS participants will join a base of over 150 alumna who continue to engage in reproductive justice work, attend meet ups, trainings, rallies, become volunteers, mentors, donors and provide testimony.
COLOR is committed to keeping LIPS accessible, so there is no up-front cost to attending LIPS.

LIPS is a leadership program designed for Latinas, by Latinas. Our goal is to empower young people to take action on issues that matter to them. The program is open to youth ages 16-21 in the Denver metro area and thoughtfully engages participants in a vibrant community of reproductive justice activists. Part of this community-building component involves being matched with a mentor who will share their interests or professional goals, and actively participate in LIPS events.
