COLOR's policy and advocacy

COLOR works in many different arenas to protect and promote Latina reproductive justice

1) Coalition work- COLOR is one of the few voices for Latina Reproductive Justice in Colorado at the state capitol and in progressive policy coalitions

2) COLOR co-convenes the Latina/o Advocacy Day, which brings our community's voice into civic participation, engagement and lobbying.

3) Direct voter engagement and electoral work- COLOR brings the issues most important to our community, to our community! In 2009, COLOR is working to ensure that Latina/o student success is a critical part of school board elections in Denver Public Schools.

4) COLOR works with both state and national policy partners to create long-term strategies for Latina Reproductive Justice

We are with the Colorado C-3 roundatable to bring to you a series of amazing volunteer opportunities to ensure a strong voter turnout during this fall's election season. Only by increasing voter turnout in our communities can we ensure that our voices are heard. We know that not all of us CAN vote, but we can all volunteer and be active in our communities.

Latinas COLORadas

As you may have seen in the news, 11 state legislators from Colorado, members of the GOP Study Committee of Colorado (RSCC) are visiting Arizona with their counterparts to discuss SB 1070, other laws that apply to illegal immigration and more. These 11 members will be introducing legislation similar to SB-1070 in Colorado next year. This is a distraction to Colorado's real concerns. We need CIR at the Federal level. This pushes Colorado in the wrong direction. Colorado's elected officials should be focusing on the real concerns of Colorado, like jobs and the economy, rather than playing political games 3 months before the election.
