Cafecitos

Cafecitos are a small-group outreach model that engages primarily Latino parents and reaches an average of 15 parents each time. The intimate setting is culturally appropriate and very effective in leveraging trust and building rapport with an adult audience, mostly immigrant, Spanish-speaking families. Cafecitos help to inform, organize and mobilize participants around reproductive justice issues.

The cafecitos are a model of meetings to involve groups of people, mainly parents. These talks take place in an intimate and culturally appropriate setting, highly effective at building trust and rapport with an adult audience, mostly Spanish-speaking immigrant families. Cafecitos help inform, organize, and mobilize participants around reproductive justice issues.

Cafecitos Testimony

I have participated in your cafecitos for the last two years and you have no idea how much you have changed my life with your talks. Now I have better communication with my sons and my husband. I feel that I’m more prepared to provide sexual education in a more comprehensive way to my sons. Now I know that talking naturally about the body is the best way to help them make the best decisions.

Thank you Gina, your work has changed my life. I’m still a very religious person, but also informed.”

Mujeres de COLOR

In 2017, we launched the only Spanish-speaking Reproductive Justice radio show in the country! We know that the radio is still a medium of communication used by the Latine community, and one that can provide the most recent updates to listeners.

In the last 6 years, Mujeres de COLOR has:

  • Hosted a show every Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. — rain, snow or shine!
  • Won five awards from the Colorado Broadcast Association
    • 2018 Best Morning Show
    • 2020 Best Morning Show
    • 2021 Best Public Affairs Program
    • 2021 Best Morning Show
    • 2021 Best News/Talk Show Host or Team

And provided information, answered questions, provided much-needed support, and shared resources to help our community navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.
